The Recreation Director and Programmer are responsible for the planning, organizing and operation of the cultural, athletic and recreational activities in the City. They work in cooperation with other groups and individuals in carrying out these activities throughout the year.


Hunter's Safety Home Study & Field Day

The Michigan DNR and the City of St. Johns are sponsoring a Hunter’s Safety Training course. The training course will be a home study with a mandatory field day at the end. For more information and a copy of this years Hunter Safety course, Click here.

NFL Flag Football

The City of St. Johns Recreation Department is now accepting registration for our NFL Flag Football program, for boys and girls 4th through 8th grade.The league will be divided into grade divisons and will consist of 7 weeks of practice and 5 week of games. CPR & First Aid Certification Course

The City of St. Johns is now accepting registration for our CPR & First Aid Certification Course. The class will be held on Thursday June 7th from 6-8 pm at the St. Johns Depot located at 205 E. Railroad St (across from Briggs Public Library). The class will provide instruction for all including health care professionals and child care providers. Click here to view the registration form. 

Summer Youth Programs

Youth Basketball Open Gym

The City of St. Johns Recreation Department is now offering open gym basketball for St. Johns School District Residents in the 6th through 8th grade. Open gym will take place at the St. Johns Middle School Main Gym on Tuesdays starting April 24th through May 29th from 6:00 pm. to 7:30.

Adult Leagues

The City of St. Johns Recreation Department is now accepting registration for this summers adult leagues, Sand Volleyball and Kickball.This season, each team that participate in any of these leagues will recieve a discounted player fee, already applied to their registration.
